On the picturesque bank of the Volga, in the green area of the city of Togliatti, among the tall pines there is a beautiful temple made of a wooden frame. The prototype of the church on the hill was the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built in 1744 in old Stavropol and flooded during the construction of the Volga hydroelectric power station in 1955. According to the chronicles, in the former church on the first tier of the iconostasis there was an icon of rare beauty painted by the Kosobryukhov brothers.

In August 1995. just above the Resurrection Monastery, a cross was erected on a hill and the site of the future church in honor of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos was consecrated. On August 28, 2000 (on the feast of the Dormition of the Theotokos, which is the patronal for the temple), the bishop's consecration of the entire temple took place. The building of the temple was built entirely at the expense of patrons in the face of large enterprises of the city and donations from parishioners.

On the territory of the temple there are buildings: an icon-painting workshop, a prosphora, a library, a refectory, a Sunday school, a priest's house and a belfry of nine bells. The Sunday school provides classes in the Church Slavonic language, the Law of God, isography and spiritual singing. A small church shop with souvenirs and church paraphernalia is located in the basement of the church.

A calm and friendly atmosphere reigns on the territory of the temple: flower beds in the form of alpine hills are laid out, benches are installed, and a magnificent view of the Volga opens from the observation deck.
