Everyone knows the love of the Dutch for flowers, because the symbol of Holland is the tulip, the flower in this country is legendary. At the end of the 16th century, the first tulips appeared in Holland, and in 20 years several hundred new varieties of tulips have appeared. At the beginning of the 17th century, the country experienced "tulip mania" - when everyone, young and old, traded tulip bulbs. In 1637 the market collapsed, many were ruined, and the country was on the verge of a financial crisis. However, this did not detract from the love of the Dutch for these beautiful flowers.

Street florists offered their wares on boats on the city's many canals, and since the 18th century there has been a floating flower market, the only one in the world. Now the Flower Market is located on the Singel Canal, in the center of Amsterdam, near Dam Square. There are dozens of shops on the barges along the waterfront where you can buy a variety of flowers and plants. Florists will compose a bouquet for you, taking into account your wishes. The flower market is worth a visit, even if you are not fond of floriculture - it is difficult to find such a variety of flowers in one place, and do not be surprised if you find here the usual flowers of unusual colors or shapes.
