Photo and description

The Strukovskaya, or Ascension Church, is located in the Transcarpathian region, Yasinya village, Krivorovnya street, 245. This church is the main attraction of the former center of Hutsulshchyna.

The church was erected in 1824 on the slope of a mountain called Kosterivka. It was built in the Hutsul style. Strukovskaya Church is the main treasure for the residents of the village, and not only because of the uniqueness and beauty of the building. A story about a real miracle is connected with the place where the temple has been rising for almost two centuries.

There is a legend that the Strukovskaya church was built by a shepherd named Ivan Struk - hence it got its name. And the reason for its construction was the wondrous salvation of his flock of sheep. In winter, when the bad weather played out in earnest, the shepherd could not move on with the flock of sheep that he was leading to the fair and left it there. In the spring Struck returned to at least collect some wool. And then he saw a miracle - his sheep not only survived, but also brought offspring. It was then that the shepherd decided to found a church here with a village around it. Therefore, the Ascension Church in the village of Yasinya is named after its legendary founder, Strukovskaya.

The temple was built in the form of a cross formed by five log cabins and crowned with a hipped dome in the shape of an octahedron - all according to the canons of Hutsul architecture of religious buildings. The church seems squat because of the three tiers, which seem to press each other to the ground. One of the beams is engraved in the form of three crosses and an inscription with the date of construction. Also on the walls there are inscriptions about the inhabitants, who made donations for the maintenance of the temple.

Next to the church there is an 11-meter bell tower, which was built in 1813 - it was moved here when the church on the other end of the village burned down.
