The local history museum of the city of Vinnitsa is one of the most famous such museums in the eastern region of Podolia and is located on the street. Soborna, 19. The cultural center was founded in 1918. The premises in which the museum is located is of great historical value, since it is part of the architectural complex "Mury", erected in the 17th century.

The first collection of the museum was exhibits Vinnytsia zemstvo, Podolsk society of agriculture, private collections. The museum contained various works of art, antiques, interiors, collections from the own estates of Princess Shcherbatova and the count families of the Stroganovs and Potockis.

The Museum of Local Lore contains unique archeological items, namely, things of the Scythian and Sarmatian periods of world significance. The museum exhibits rare books, manuscripts, posters, postcards, photographs, personal belongings of famous people.

The largest and oldest is the archaeological collection of the museum, it has 7 thousand items. storage. It includes: jewelry from different eras, weapons, tools, finds from excavations of the Tripolye culture settlement, as well as a large collection of finds from settlements, fortified settlements and burial grounds of the Scythian and pre-Scythian, Zarubinets, Chernyakhov cultures.
