Loch Lomond, located on the border between the highlands and lowlands of Scotland, is the largest lake in Scotland and Great Britain. In terms of volume, it is second only to Loch Ness. There are many islands on the lake, especially in its southern part, the largest among them is Inchmurrin Island. There are also islands of artificial origin, the so-called krannogs. Wallaby colony lives on Inchconnahan Island.

The length of the lake is 39 km, and the width ranges from 1.2 km to 8 km. The average depth is 37 m, the greatest depth is 190 m. On the eastern shore of the lake is Mount Ben Lomond.

Loch Lomond is a traditional vacation spot. It is now part of the Trossax National Park. Loch Lomond Golf Club is located on the southwestern shore of the lake. where international golf competitions are held. There is a cycling route about 28 km long on the west bank.

Loch Lomond is a water sports center. Here they go in for kayaking and canoeing, windsurfing, water skiing, and boat races. In some protected areas, the speed of movement on the lake is limited to 10 km / h, in the rest of the lake - to 90 km / h. The lake is patrolled around the clock by the rescue service.

From the town of Balloch you can go for a walk on the lake by boat. In Balloch, the last paddle steamer of Great Britain "The Lady of the Lake" is permanently docked. It was built in Clyde in 1953 and has been carrying tourists on the lake for 29 years.
