Photo and description

The Transfiguration Cathedral in Mogilev will become the most monumental temple in the city. Its construction has been going on for over 10 years.

The ceremony of laying the first stone of the temple with a commemorative capsule and the consecration of the site where the future Mogilev Cathedral will be built took place on June 10, 2000. The ceremony was conducted by Archbishop Maxim of Mogilev and Mstislavl. The temple is being built on modern Pushkin Avenue, where the proportions of the cathedral should organically fit into residential buildings and eclipse the multi-storey apartment buildings.

The Transfiguration Cathedral reaches 60 meters in height and is the tallest temple in the Republic of Belarus. It can accommodate over 3.5 thousand believers.

The temple is being built on donations from citizens. In Mogilev, subbotniks were organized at workplaces, the salaries from which were voluntarily transferred by employees of enterprises for the construction of the cathedral. Also voluntary donations were made by many companies in the city and private donors. The Russian Orthodox Church did not remain aloof from the construction of this colossal church in the neighboring Orthodox country and contributed to its construction and decoration.

In 2008, gilded onion domes were installed on the already built temple. In 2010, the interior decoration and decoration of the cathedral's interior began.

The grand opening of the main temple of Mogilev is promised to be held in 2013, when all the fine finishing of the interior of the temple is completed.
