The Lesya Ukrainka Museum in the Crimean resort town of Yalta is one of four museums in Ukraine dedicated to the great poetess. The museum is located on Ekaterininskaya Street, 8, in the former mansion of the merchant E.F. Lishchinskaya.

Lesya Ukrainka (real name Larisa Petrovna Kosach-Kvitka) has been a painful and problematic child since early childhood. At the age of 10, the future poetess fell ill with a very severe form of bone tuberculosis, as a result of which the doctors recommended that L. Ukrainka's parents keep her away from the cold. Therefore, in the winter season, Lesya left her home and moved to the south, she returned to her native place in late spring.

In the early 70s, on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the poetess, in the city of Yalta an initiative group was founded to create the L. Ukrainka, thanks to whom a monument to the writer was erected, a memorial plaque was erected on the house where she lived in 1897, and the collection of exhibits began. The persecution of the national intelligentsia, which took place in the 70s. XX century, stopped working on the museum. In the house where the museum was planned to be founded, an exposition of the Museum of Pre-Revolutionary Progressive Ukrainian and Russian Culture was opened. In September 1993, thanks to the initiative of the Yalta City Society "Prosvita", the Yalta City Executive Committee decided to give the exposition "Lesya Ukrainka and Crimea" the status of "Museum of Lesia Ukrainka".
