Description, photographs and a map showing the nearest significant objects. The title in English is Filharmonia Zielonogorska. Photo and descriptionThe Zelenogursk Philharmonic, named after the contemporary Polish composer Tadeusz Byrd, was founded in 1974 on the basis of the local symphony orchestra, which has existed since 1956. The director and artistic director of the Philharmonic is currently the composer and conductor Czeslaw Grabowski. For a long time, concerts of the Philharmonic took place in a classical design building, erected in 1900. There was a small chamber auditorium for only 200 people. In 2004, a modern building with a semicircular glass facade was built specifically for the local philharmonic society, which was named the International Music Center "East-West". It can accommodate twice as many spectators as in the old building. The first concert of the local symphony orchestra under the direction of Mechislav Tomashevich took place on May 26, 1956 and was a resounding success. In 1961, a special room was allocated for the musicians. In 1974 they became known as the Philharmonic Orchestra. Real fame came to the local troupe in the early 80s, when the orchestra was directed by Simon Cavalla. The orchestra has often performed in various Polish cities, as well as abroad. The repertoire of the Zelenogursk Philharmonic includes artistic projects that are interesting both for musicians, as they help them realize their wildest dreams, and for the audience. The works that sound from the stage of the Philharmonic, including oratorios, symphonies and popular modern compositions, are designed for various segments of the population. The local orchestra often plays music by Polish composers.
