Photo and descriptionThe Museum of the History of Gold is the only northernmost international museum. It is located in Lapland, in the small village of Tankvaara, located an hour's drive north of Sondakyla. In these places, in the nearest rivulet Ivalo, in 1868 the first boom of the "gold rush" began. In the early 1900s, many gold prospecting companies were established. Now a whole Golden Village has grown up on this site with unique exhibitions. Copies of buildings from different Golden Villages of the world were built on the open-air site. The exposition is called “Auraria”. On its territory, tourists can feel the atmosphere of the times of the golden boom.
