Lake Golbasi description and photos - Turkey: Ankara. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photographs and a map showing the nearest significant objects. The name in English is Golbasi. Photo and descriptionIf you drive along the Koni highway from Ankara in a southerly direction, then almost immediately after crossing the ring road on the right you can see a large water mirror, which is surrounded by reeds - this is Lake Golbashi. Having crossed the ancient Seljuk bridge over the Kyzylirmak river, travelers find themselves at this lake, the name of which means "by the lake" located not far from the cave. Here, on the shore, you can relax before entering Ankara. It is rightfully considered the largest body of water in this region of Turkey. Here you will see a shady park, two mosques and two ponds with fat carp. According to local legend, leaving his cave, Abraham turned into an implacable critic of King Nemrut and tried to smash the idols in the local temple. The tyrant did not like this, and he ordered to throw Abraham from the wall of the fortress into the fire laid out below. Abraham was saved when, according to the word of God, the fire turned into water, and the wood into carp. Since then, carps have been sacred here and it is believed that whoever eats it will go blind. Near the first pond is Ayn-i-Zeliha, a restaurant and teahouse named after Nemrut's daughter, where you can sit in the shade and feed the carp with food sold by the water peddlers. There are always many pilgrims on its shores. This lake is not very deep. The maximum depth here reaches four meters, the bottom is flat, silty, without depressions. Many crayfish are found in it, which indicates the purity of the water - they do not live in dirty crayfish. Therefore, both tourists and locals catch them here. However, this is not what attracts fishermen from many countries of the world here. Lake Golbashi is literally filled with fish. It is mainly inhabited by pike, carp and tench, so you will simply need spinning. The fish in the lake was launched, according to local residents, by the Americans back in the 50s of the last century. They cooperated at that time in the military field with the Turkish government. Since that time, the Turks began to maintain the presence of fish in the lake and prevent their extinction. The main type of food for pike is silverfish, and since no one eats it except pike, this type of fish bred here in large numbers. Lake Golbashi has long been recognized as the best for fishing in Turkey. In such an abundance of fish, the fact that until recently there were no mass fishing trips played an important role in this lake, and fishing was carried out mainly by local fishermen and a small part of visiting fishing enthusiasts. Only recently has sport fishing developed so much. This happened due to the fact that most of the local residents began to go to work in Europe and there they already got acquainted with this sport and learned to spinning fishing. Despite this, even now you can often find nets or shellfish installed on pike in the southern part of the lake. This lake has one significant drawback: there are few places for fishing from the shore, since on one side the shore built up with houses, and on the other - overgrown with reeds. The best fishing can only be fishing from a boat, but for this you need to take it somewhere. You can negotiate with the locals or bring an inflatable boat with you, or you can, here to rent a wooden one. It is advisable to bring tackle with you as well, because there are no specialized stores where you can buy them.
