According to some historical information, in the village of Gershenovichi there was once a temple built in 1343. Inside the church there was an ancient Orthodox iconostasis. The villages of Gershenovichi, Kotelny and seven nearby villages constituted the parish of this temple.

The new stone church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the village was built in 1866-1869, funding was provided by the Orthodox community and philanthropists. A small temple complex in the pseudo-Russian style includes a four-sided church with a low top pavilion on a drum and an onion-shaped head. On the east side of the main room adjoins the altar apse in the form of a pentahedron, in the west there is a small vestibule and a belfry, built in two tiers with an onion top.

In June 2007, the village of Gershony, together with the surrounding area, was annexed to the city of Brest and is now its district. The Nativity of God Church belongs to the Brest diocese, and since the beginning of the 21st century it has been included in the list of historical and cultural values of the country.
