Al Kut Fort was built in the 19th century and for a long time (until 1927) served as a prison. In the 1970s, the fort was rebuilt as a museum, but the appearance of the impregnable fortress was preserved. Now it is a center for contemporary art, where various exhibitions are regularly held.
