The name in English is Goldenberg Mansion. Photo and descriptionGoldenberg's mansion, built in the 19th century for the Jugster family, served as the headquarters of the Spanish Navy from 1897 to 1898. When the Americans arrived in the Philippines, the house housed the residence of the military governor Arthur MacArthur, father of the illustrious General Douglas MacArthur. The historic meeting of the Senate of the Philippines in 1916 was also held here. Later, the mansion was bought by cosmetics manufacturer Michael Goldenberg, by whose name the house is known to this day. And in 1966, during the reign of President Marcos, the house was bought by the Government of the Philippines. Its restoration was carried out by Leandro Locsin, favorite architect of the First Lady Imelda Marcos, and he decorated the house with antiques, ceramics and books from around the world. To this day, official government ceremonies are held at the Goldenberg mansion. Unfortunately, public access to the house is limited, and few can see artifacts such as Chinese jade furniture, European candelabra, rare Filipino books, and even prehistoric works of Thai pottery.
