Photo and descriptionInnokentyevskaya church is one of the sights of the city of Khabarovsk. The Innokentyevsky temple together with the Assumption Cathedral and the Cathedral of the Transfiguration of the Savior are the main shrines not only of Khabarovsk itself, but of the entire Khabarovsk Territory. In 1870, in the city on the coast of the Barri River (today - Chardymovka) a wooden church was built, consecrated in honor of St. Innocent of Irkutsk. The construction of the temple, which began in 1868 and ended in 1869, was carried out by a military guard command. The solemn consecration of the church took place in June 1870 by Bishop Benjamin (Blagonravov) of Kamchatka. The wooden temple stood for more than a quarter of a century, but with time it fell into disrepair and could no longer meet all the needs of the rapidly growing city. In 1896 g. it was decided to build a stone church. The temple was built with funds donated by parishioners, as well as Khabarovsk merchants V.F.Plyusnin and P.T.Slugin. The authors of the project were Colonel V. G. Mooro and Captain N. G. Bykov. The military also started building the church. The construction of the temple was completed as soon as possible. The church building was completed in 1898. A little later, five domes and a bell tower of 12 bells were installed on the church. In November 1898, the consecration of the Holy Innokentyevskaya church took place. The complex of buildings of the Innokentyevsky temple also included the clergy house and the hospital of the Alexander-Ksenyevsky community, built after 1893. Until about the end of the 1930s. there was a cemetery at the church, and from 1899 to 1917 a parish school operated. In 1931 the church was closed, after which its building was transferred to the jurisdiction of the city council, and then given to the flotilla of the border military district. At that time, the temple was used as a radio-telegraph-telephone and weapons workshop for the border troops. In 1964 a planetarium was located here. As a result of these events, the Innokentyevskaya church lost its original appearance. The revival of the church in honor of St. Innocent of Irkutsk began in 1992 with the revival of the parish community. The restoration of the church took as long as 10 years. In June 2002, a solemn ceremony of consecration of the restored Church of St. Innocent of Irkutsk was held.
