Photo and description

The Church of the Exaltation of the village of Nikitintsy is the main attraction of this region. The village itself is located in the Kosiv region, Ivano-Frankivsk region, on the banks of the Pistynka river, 15 kilometers south of the city of Kolomyya.

The Nikitin wooden church of the Exaltation of the Honest Cross was built in 1859, and existed here since 1764 Years of the Exaltation of the Temple was converted into a bell tower. The entire complex was given the status of an architectural monument of national importance. The Exaltation Church belongs to the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. The temple day was designated September 27.

The wooden cross-shaped church is one-domed, has very short lateral branches, it is encircled by a bow, which rests on the branches of the crowns of log cabins. Tiny wooden log houses adjoin the eastern volume from the south and north. The central blockhouse rises noticeably above the rest to the ridge of the pitched roofs and bears a squat octagon with a slightly flattened head topped with one cupola. The main entrance to the temple looks very beautiful - it is decorated with a porch on carved columns. The entire building, except for the head, was sheathed with shingles.

The interior of the Church of the Exaltation is decorated with wall tempera painting of the 19th century. On the west side of the monument there is a wooden three-tiered bell tower with a wide outer gallery and a hipped roof. It has a somewhat unusual ending: the bell tower tent was crowned with five tiny domes - central and side, set in the corners. Two tiers - the first and the second - are chopped, and the upper one is frame.
