The Chocolate Museum is a private museum in Barcelona, opened at the initiative of the local confectioners' guild in 2000 in a former convent. The size of the museum is impressive - its area is 600 sq. m. Residents of Catalonia are incredibly proud of their chocolate museum.

By visiting the museum, you can learn about the history of the appearance of chocolate in Europe, how the Spanish conquistador Cortez entered the lands of Mexico, and how the locals - the Aztecs presented him with a wonderful drink made from cocoa beans - chocolate, which made a great impression on the Spaniards. It was Cortez and his conquistadors who brought chocolate to Spain. Aztec chocolate was bitter, because pepper was added to it. The Spaniards, on the other hand, came up with adding sugar, vanilla and nutmeg to it, thereby creating a recipe for chocolate, close to modern. Thus, the Spaniards consider themselves to be the discoverers of chocolate for Europeans.

The museum tells about the methods of processing chocolate, about its useful properties. You can also admire a real exhibition of chocolate products, which presents chocolate copies of outstanding architectural structures (Sagrada Familia, Casa Amatlle, etc.), life stories, cartoon characters and more.
