Pastor F.P. Tulynin. 1811 is considered the date of the formation of the Lutheran parish in Tsarskoe Selo. But the Lutheran church was allowed to be built here only in 1817. The initiative on this issue was taken by the director of the Lyceum E.L. Engelhardt and Lyceum Pastor Gnichtel. The first Evangelical Church of the Transfiguration of the Lord was made of wood. It was built by the end of the winter of 1818 on the site of the barracks of the Hussar regiment. The church was decorated in the Empire style, in the architectural design of the central facade a compositional model of the ancient “temple in antae” was used: a 3-column portico, surrounded by external walls, was completed with a full entablature and a frieze with triglyphs and metopes, crowned with a pediment in the shape of a triangle. In 1822, under the direction of the architect V.P. Stasov, the portico was altered: 4 fluted joinery columns were built (instead of three) and the porch was redesigned. At first, services in the temple were conducted by a lyceum pastor. In 1843, after the transfer of the Lyceum to St. Petersburg, the church was transferred to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. An elementary school building was erected on the temple site, supported by church money. For the most part, the children of German colonists went here (the Friedenthal colony, founded in Tsarskoe Selo in 1817). Since 1852, in addition to divine services in German, services in the Estonian and Latvian languages began to be held in the Lutheran church. In 1857 he became an architect. N.S. Nikitin drew up a project to add a warm vestibule to the church. In 1865, the temple acquired its modern appearance according to the plan of the architect A.F. Vidova. At the beginning of the 20th century, a Latvian community was born in Tsarskoe Selo. In 1930, the first floor of the church building was converted into a workers' dormitory. In 1931, the church was closed, and the second floor was transferred to the red corner and the dining room of the mechanical repair plant. After that there was a driving school (until the mid-1970s). The process of returning the church to believers began in 1963, when a team of initiative people began collecting signatures in support of the revival of the church. In 1977, by the decision of the Finnish Evangelical community, the restoration of the facades and their architectural measurements were made under the supervision of the architect M.I. Tolstov. The brickwork, the entrance porch were restored, the decorative details of the tent were temporarily repaired, and a cross was installed. The interior has also undergone major renovations. In the same year, the church was transferred to the Finnish community. It was consecrated anew in honor of the Resurrection of Christ, and services in Finnish were begun there. Since 1988, services have been held here in Russian and German. Today the parish is part of the Church of Ingria and carries out its activities in Russian and Finnish.
