Photo and description

The Peter and Paul Church at the St. Andrew Monastery in Yaremche is the youngest religious building in the city. The monastic complex, surrounded by a beech forest, was built on the banks of the Kamenka mountain river in the middle of the Tolsty Dol tract. The missionary congregation of St. Andrew was founded by the famous Greek Catholic missionary Yaroslav Svishchuk.

The Church of St. Peter and Paul the Apostles is made of wood according to the canons of traditional architecture of the Hutsul region and is at the same time a museum of Metropolitan Galician, Primate of the Greek Catholic Ukrainian Church Andrey Sheptytsky. The museum is located on the lower tier of the temple. The exposition of the museum presents a collection of icons, portraits, subject paintings, sculptures and mosaics of famous masters of the Ukrainian diaspora, collected by Yaroslav Svishchuk, among them works, created by P. Andrusiv, E. Kozak, Y. Mokritsky, N. Bidnyak, E. Mazurik, M. Dmitrenko and many other masters. Also in the collection of the museum there are sculptural and icon-painting creations of Yaroslav Svishchuk himself.

Yaremche is a harmony of nature, beauty and impeccable architectural heritage, a vivid example of which is the Church of St. Peter and Paul. Here you can enjoy the romance of the Carpathians, and learn a lot about the fascinating history of this enchanting land. And there are really many interesting things in the history of Yaremche, because here almost every building, every stone bears the stamp of time. Clean air, excellent ecology, high mountains and dense Carpathian forests are organically complemented by the developed infrastructure of the town, which annually attracts more and more tourists.
