The Church of Peter and Paul is located in Kharkov on one of the longest streets of the city, st. Shevchenko. The church was founded in 1866 on the outskirts of the city - on Zhuravlevka. The temple was built in the name of the apostles Peter and Paul. At that time, there was still no temple dedicated to these two saints, but there were thrones installed in their honor in other churches, which were very hung or were completely destroyed, and required reconstruction.

The stone building on Zhuravlevka was laid in 1871. ... In 1875, the Church of Peter and Paul was erected according to the project of architects F.I.Danilov and V.N. Nebolsin. It was built in the Russian-Byzantine style: in the form of a ship, stone, one-domed and with three thrones. The main throne was built in the name of the apostles Peter and Paul, the throne on the right side - in honor of St. Basil the Blessed, and on the left - in the name of John the Baptist. There was a parish school for women at the shrine.

The church had to go through hard times, but even during the period of persecution and Nazi occupation, it did not stop its work.

By the 130th anniversary, the building of the monastery was restored, and already its holiday, in 1996, the temple was celebrated in a new look. In addition, in the same year, the church Sunday school of Basil the Great was opened at the church. At the school, parishioners are taught the art of church chanting and doctrine.
