Expocentre of Ukraine is an international multifunctional complex designed to showcase industrial, scientific, cultural and other achievements. The Expocentre began its work in 1958 as VDNKh of the Ukrainian SSR and has managed to change its name several times to this day. It was the Center for Exhibitions and Fairs of Ukraine, and the National Exhibition Center of Ukraine, and now it is the National Complex Expocentre of Ukraine.

The idea of building the Expocentre was expressed back in the late 40s of the XX century, but construction began only in 1952 and dragged on for 6 years. The design of the Expocentre was carried out by the staff of the Dniprogorod Institute; the best sculptors and artists of the country were involved in the design of the pavilions.

Initially, the Expocentre housed such pavilions, as “Energy and Electrification”, “Coal, Oil and Gas and Metallurgical Industry”, “Mechanical Engineering and Instrumentation”, “Construction and Industry of Building Materials”, “Agriculture”, “Plastics and Polymer Materials”, “Livestock”, “Technical Cultures”, "Vegetable growing, gardening and viticulture" and others. Later, several more pavilions were built, dedicated to education, the wealth of the sea, consumer goods, the electrification of the national economy, visual agitation, the coal industry, etc.

During the existence of the Expocentre, famous figures have visited it - Charles de Gaulle, Ho Chi Minh, Joseph Broz Tito, Margaret Thatcher and others.

In addition to organizing expositions, the Expocentre has organized and continues to arrange Exhibitions, dedicated to significant dates in the life of the people and the country. Many of them were shown outside Ukraine - in Moscow, Brno, Hanover, Leipzig, Montreal, etc.
