Photo and description

Most of Pha Daeng National Park is occupied by a mountain range. Its largest peak is Doi Pukphukka, about 1,794 meters above sea level. There are quite powerful showers in the summer period, since the region is under the influence of the southwestern monsoons. The air temperature in the park varies considerably from 7.5 ° С in winter and up to 26.7 ° С in summer.

Valuable tree species grow on its territory, both from deciduous and rain forests. For example, cinnamon, ironwood, Burmese ebony and others.

The National Park occupies part of the Animal Reservation of the Chiang Dao District, so porcupines, langurs, deer, palm martens, goral, as well as a wide variety of fish and birds can be found here. There are many species of frogs and toads near water bodies.

Various hill tribes live in the park, such as the long-necked Karen, Lisu, Hmong and Akha. Long ago, they fled to northern Thailand from neighboring Burma. These people live in remote places, keeping their way of life for many centuries, they do not know either electricity or cellular communications. Traditionally, tribes are involved in handicrafts such as fabric making, embroidery, silver jewelry and more.

Deep caves are a visiting card of Pha Daeng National Park, a huge number of underground tunnels are spread on its territory. There is even a legend among the locals that once a venerable monk walked through such underground labyrinths to Chiang Mai itself.
