Doi Inthanon National Park covers an area of 482 square kilometers and includes the highest mountain range in all of Thailand. Its main peak is Mount Doi Inthanon, the highest in the country, reaching 2565 meters above sea level. Thanks to this, the people called it “the roof of Thailand”.

Formerly known as Doi Angka, the mountain is named after the abbreviation of the king's name Inthawichayanon. Legend has it that the ruler's ashes were buried at the top of the mountain, and now his spirit is an integral companion of all guests of the park.

The national park is very popular among locals and tourists due to its atypical climate for Thailand. The average annual temperature at the summit is about 12 ° C. Despite, that there is never snow on Mount Doi Inthanon; in the winter months, the thermometer here drops to -8 ° C. This is the coldest place in Thailand and the locals believe that having visited Doi Inthanon, they know what a real winter is.
