Photo and description

Construction of a church in the Borovichi microdistrict called Sosnovka began in the fall of 2002. Construction was started by a silicate brick plant. During the inventory in the warehouse of the Borstroymaterialy firm, a box was found with an old icon inside. The icon depicts a full-length saint with a cross. For almost a year they waited for the owner to appear. The owner did not appear and the general director Zykov V.K. took the icon to his office. The discovered icon served as the initiating reason for the construction of the temple. Zykov had very vague and scattered ideas about Christian culture and the Orthodox faith. He began to read the Gospel, began to study the literature on church architecture. To build a church, it was necessary to understand which he had no idea about before. Little by little, the idea of what a temple should be in Sosnovka began to form.

On September 28, 2002, Archbishop Lev visited Borovichi. He got acquainted with the drawings of the future church in Sosnovka, which Zykov V.K. received from friends. Vladyka gave a number of recommendations for increasing the altar and installing a baptismal room in the church subchurch. It was agreed that Vitaly Konstantinovich would take into account all the comments of the archbishop and work out a sketch of the temple. While working on the sketch for the iconostasis, Vitaly Konstantinovich re-read a lot of special literature, met with different masters in various workshops. Visited Sofrino, visited the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. But once arriving in Noginsk near Moscow and visiting the temple where the relics of the Great Martyr Constantine are located, he saw several icons that shocked him. The iconostasis was not yet completed, but the faces from the icons looked as if they were alive. Zykov immediately wanted to find an icon painter who paints such icons, get to know him and learn more about him. This icon painter turned out to be the priest Mikhail from the village of Vnuto, which is located in the Khvoininsky district. Father Mikhail agreed to paint icons for the church in the village of Sosnovka. He also made a sketch of the iconostasis and a sketch of the temple, which were agreed with Vladyka.

During the construction of the temple, many amazing things happened. Also, the builders faced many problems. In 2004, the construction of the main building was completed, it needed to be closed. But there were no specialists who would have erected a dome reaching seven meters in diameter and made two crosses three meters high. A special crane was also required to lift and install the crosses. The company built the church at its own expense and with donations, so it had to save money. However, all problems have been resolved.

Before Christmas, a large bell was hung on the bell tower, weighing 524 kg. On Christmas night, all residents of Sosnovka heard the bell ringing. Vitaly Konstantinovich rang the bell and from above from the bell tower saw how people walked to the temple, though not yet completed, but declaring itself to be ringing.

Archbishop of Novgorod and Old Russian Lev paid a lot of attention to the construction of the temple. He was interested in the progress of work, came, looked, helped and supported. The Archbishop handed over to the newly-made church the relics of the saints, which are kept in Novgorod, in the St. Sophia Cathedral. Also, with the blessing of Vladyka, the temple ark was replenished with particles of the relics of Saints Nikandr Gorodnoezersky and Jacob Borovichsky.

In January 2006, the end of the Epiphany was consecrated and services began here.
