The castle of Lubomirski and Potocki in Lancut is one of the most important architectural monuments in Poland, was built in the first half of the 17th century in the style of an aristocratic palace-residence. Currently, the building houses a museum, which is an important tourist attraction in Poland.

The castle was built by Stanislaw Lubomirsky in 1629-1642 by architects Matteo Trapola and Giovanni Batista Falconi. In the second half of the 18th century, the palace became the property of Isabella Lubomirskaya, who turned her possessions into a real ceremonial palace and park ensemble. At the invitation of Isabella, famous architects and artists such as Shimon Bohumil, Johann Christian Kamsetzer, Friedrich Bauman, Vincenzo Brenn and others worked in the castle. During this period, a landscape park was created with pavilions and a statue of Lubomirsky in the form of Cupid. At the end of the 18th century, the castle became one of the most significant cultural sites in Poland.

After Isabella's death in 1816 Lancut went to her grandchildren Alfred and Arthur Potocki. During World War II, the castle was captured by the Nazis. Alfred Pototsky fled the country. At the end of the war, the castle was nationalized and turned into a museum.

Following the tradition started by Isabella Lubomirskaya, since 1960, the palace has been hosting chamber music days. In 1981 the event was transformed into a festival, which is one of the most important classical music events in the country. Various music master classes have been held since 1975. In 1996, the palace hosted a meeting of the heads of nine states of Europe.
