Photo and descriptionThe Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior is an Orthodox church located in the village of Khosta on Shosseinaya street. The temple was erected in 1909-1911. and consecrated in honor of the Transfiguration of the Lord. The church was built with funds donated by local residents and money allocated by the Holy Synod and benefactors. The project of the building of the temple was carried out by the Sochi architect A. Ion. The wife of the Minister of Justice of Russia M.F. Shcheglovitova. The church was built of natural crushed stone - sandstone. In 1933, during the anti-religious campaigns in the Soviet Union, the Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior was closed. Initially, it was used as a club, and after that it was completely empty. In 1981, an automatic telephone exchange was located in the premises of the temple. In 1989 g. a community of local believers was again created. Initially, services were held in the annex to the church building. In 1991, the basement was given to the believers, and already in 2001 - the entire temple, after which it was restored. The Host Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior is a compact, one-story and one-domed stone church with elements of Byzantine and Russian architecture with a belfry. The main volume is crowned with a dome mounted on a large drum with a golden cross. The domed bell tower is located above the narthex. The Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior is designed for the simultaneous reception of up to 200 parishioners. Today the temple has been renovated and is still operational.
