Photo and description

In 1943, Saratov geologists, who were looking for oil and gas for the needs of the front, found a large source of hydrogen sulfide waters near the mouth of the Glebuchev ravine at a depth of 228 meters. Professors N. Stern, S. Mirotvortsev and L. Varshamov wrote about the healing property of the source. in mid-1945, the city health department organized a hydropathic hospital, the first patients of which were officers and soldiers wounded in the war, who were being treated in Saratov hospitals. A year later, a special bus route from the Upper Bazaar was launched to the hospital.

In 1954, the architect E.M. Petrushko prepared a project for a stationary building of the hospital, which was built in 1958. The building turned out to be very representative, with elements of classicism and outwardly resembles an old noble manor with original domed architecture and columns. Despite its late appearance, the building of the hydropathic establishment is an architectural monument.

A remarkable architectural object with a healing spring is located on the upper row of the Cosmonauts Embankment, where the Saratov highway bridge across the Volga begins. During its existence, the balneological hospital has improved the health of tens of thousands of patients with diseases of the circulatory system, nervous system and gastrointestinal tract, becoming a well-known regional and Russian health resort, not inferior to the healing properties of the Caucasian and Black Sea counterparts.

In front of the building of the balneological hospital, flower beds were laid out, trees were planted and a fountain was built.
