Title in English - Russell-Cotes Art Gallery & Museum. Photo and DescriptionThe art gallery, located in Bournemouth in the southwest of Great Britain, bears the name of its founder, Merton Russell-Cotes. The unusual Art Nouveau house with turrets and galleries, built in 1901, was a gift from Sir Russell-Cotes to his wife Annie. Like many wealthy people of that time, the Russell-Cotes couple traveled a lot around the world, and from their travels they brought many unusual and interesting things. They donated the house and art and other collections to the city during their lifetime. The museum's collections reflect the artistic tastes of the Victorian era. In painting, these are landscapes, genre scenes, paintings on biblical themes. The museum features both British and European artists. Besides painting, the museum presents samples of decorative and applied art from many countries of the world, the Japanese collection in the "Mikado Hall" is especially interesting. For young children, there is a cafe and a playground, while older children can take part in a "detective game" - find objects and paintings in the museum according to the list.
