Photo and descriptionNear the Kukcha mosque, on the territory of the ancient Muslim necropolis, there is an old mausoleum. It was erected in honor of Sheikh Zaynudin, whom the locals respectfully called "bobo", that is, "grandfather." The son of the founder of the famous Sufi order Suhrawardiya Sheikh Zaynudin spent almost his entire life in Tashkent, where he arrived on the orders of his father as a preacher. He lived in the Kukcha region, enjoyed great prestige, was a scientist and theologian, was able to support the people after the city was devastated by the Mongols. Sheikh Zaynudin lived a long and interesting life and died at the age of 95. He was buried at the local cemetery, where, several centuries later, by order of Tamerlane, a large mausoleum was built. You can get inside, where the tomb of Sheikh Zaynudin is located, through a high portal, located between two slender turrets. The height of the mausoleum is approximately 20 meters. It is worth paying attention to the two-storey building next to the mausoleum. This is a cell of the 12th century (chillahona), in which Sheikh Zaynudin himself spent long hours. According to some archival documents, this building is the oldest in Tashkent. Now it has been renovated inside, the walls are covered with a layer of plaster, and the floor is lined with protective tiles. However, under them there is an authentic masonry, on which the famous Sheikh himself walked. It is also interesting that this cell was turned into an observatory. The windows in the domes are made in such a way that through them one could observe the heavenly bodies and phenomena. They say that in ancient times a passage was laid underground, along which one could get directly from the cell to the mausoleum of Kaffal Shashi.
