Casa Amalle is one of the three most beautiful Art Nouveau buildings in Barcelona, located in the "Quarter of Discord", so named because of the great stylistic inconsistencies in the architecture of the buildings located here. Two other equally famous buildings adjacent to Casa Amalle are Casa Batllo by architect Antoni Gaudi and Casa Lleo Morera by architect Domenech y Montarer.

Casa Amalle was redesigned by architect Josep Puig-i Kadafalka. In 1898, the house was bought by the family of the pastry chef Antonio Amalle, and the famous modernist master Puig-i-Cadafalk redeveloped the now famous mansion, its decoration and decoration, which were completed by 1900.

Several architectural trends are intertwined in this luxurious house with an extraordinary facade. The author uses the techniques of Catalan Gothic, which coexist with Flemish and Byzantine style elements.

The extraordinary beauty of the arch, the stepped pediment, the entrance with two openings of different sizes, wrought iron elements, as well as the magnificently executed original bas-reliefs decorating the facade - all this gave the building a unique and luxurious look.

From 1960 to the present, the upper floors of the building are occupied by the Institute of Spanish Art, in part of the premises there is a large library. On the ground floor there is a wonderful chocolate shop.
