Photo and descriptionThe church of the Holy Great Martyr Barbara in the village of Melekino, Pervomaisky district of the Donetsk region, began to be erected in 2007. An Orthodox church in honor of the patroness of miners and travelers - the Holy Great Martyr Barbara was built at an enviable speed with donations from local entrepreneurs ... The beginning of the construction of the church in the village of Melekino was laid by the district deputy and private entrepreneur Valery Karakai, who took up the solution of all organizational issues. By 2009, due to a serious economic crisis, the construction of the temple had to be suspended. Since the roof of the building had not yet been erected, there was a danger of destruction of the still unfinished church. But, despite this, thanks to the initiative of the Meleki Orthodox parish, regular services began to be held in the church. The Orthodox community felt an urgent need to complete the construction of the church, since the old school building, which was provided to them for worship, became completely unusable. To the delight of believers, thanks to donations from patrons and parishioners, in September 2012, construction work on the building of the Church of the Holy Great Martyr Barbara was resumed. Archpriest Constantine became the new abbot of the church. The consecration of the internal crosses of the temple under construction took place on December 6. On December 7, shining domes were installed on the church, and on them - crosses. The construction of the church was completed at an opportune moment - on December 17, it is on this day, according to the Orthodox Church calendar, that the day of the Holy Great Martyr Barbara is celebrated. p> The Orthodox community felt an urgent need to complete the construction of the church, since the building of the old school, which was provided to them for conducting services, became completely unusable.
