Photo and description

Psili Ammos is an excellent sandy beach in the southern part of the Greek island of Patmos. The beach is located in a small picturesque bay surrounded by hills, about 10 km south-west of the administrative center of Patmos, Chora, and is rightfully considered one of the best beaches on the island.

Psili Ammos beach is not organized and you you will not find the usual sun loungers, sun umbrellas, showers and changing rooms here, but there is a small cozy tavern on the beach where you can dine and buy refreshments. You can hide from the scorching sun in the shade of a tamarisk growing along the coast (although it is better to have a sun umbrella with you).

From the port of Skala, you can get to Psili Ammos beach by boat (the journey will take from 40 minutes to an hour ). You can also take public transport to the village of Dyakofiti, and then you will have to walk for about 30 minutes. True, for the elderly and young children it will be quite a tiring walk, especially in the daytime, since the area is almost completely open. It is worth noting that since Psili Ammos beach is quite well known and can be found in almost all travel guides around the island, and is also very popular among Patmos residents, in high season, and especially on weekends, it can be quite crowded here. The beach of Psili Ammos is especially popular among those who like to rest with tents.

Despite the fact that the island of Patmos is one of the most important centers of the Orthodox world and nudism is still officially prohibited here, the southern end of the beach of Psili Ammos is secretly " belongs to »nudists.
