Photo and description

The Vvedenskaya Church of the Holy Trinity Sergiev Varnitsky Monastery is the only temple that survived the atheist times and has survived, albeit in a completely distorted form, to this day. It was built in 1826-1828 in the classicism style with funds donated by philanthropists. The main amount for its construction came from the Rostov philanthropist and merchant M.M. Pleshanov, as well as from the bishop of Orenburg and Ufa Augustin (Sakharov), who lived in the Varnitskaya monastery. In addition, the funds were donated by the Rostov merchants A.A. Titov, I.I. Balashov and others.

The laying of the church in honor of the Entry into the Temple of the Most Holy Theotokos was made in the spring of 1826, and a year later, a cross appeared on it. At the same time, an agreement was signed to decorate the temple with painting. Painting activities were paid for by M.M. Pleshanov. It is worth noting that at his expense was also purchased a garment for 2 thrones and an altar, the Gospel, liturgical books and vessels.

In the fall of 1828, a solemn ceremony of consecration of the main altar of the church took place, and the next year two other side chapels were consecrated: in honor of the prophet of God Elijah and the apostle and evangelist John the Theologian. On the one side of the church porch a gatehouse was built, on the other side - the sacristy.

The Vvedensky temple was also maintained in good condition, in general, at the expense of benefactors. Until the end of his life, M.M. donated a lot to the church. Pleshanov. And at the beginning of the 80s of the XIX century, when both the internal and external decoration of the building had already, in some way, aged, and its renewal was carried out with the money of the peasant I.A. Steering wheel.

Stone construction in the monastery continued throughout the 19th century. By the second half of the century, 2 small buildings of a cozy provincial appearance appeared in the north-western zone of the monastery, in one of which were the abbot's chambers, and in the other - cells for the brethren. Also in 1832, a new refectory building appeared here, for the construction of which was used the material left over from the closed warm church of the saint. Nicholas, erected in 1783-1786 and badly damaged by a fire that occurred in the monastery in the fall of 1824.

In the Soviet years, the Vvedenskaya Church was the only surviving church building in the monastery and was in a very damaged condition. Renovated in 2001, currently in operation.
