Photo and descriptionThe Tatar State Puppet Theater "Ekiyat" was founded in 1934. It is considered one of the oldest children's theaters in the country. In the entire history of the theater, about three hundred performances have been staged. Now the theater's repertoire includes more than forty performances: performances of fairy tales of the peoples of the world, historical performances and performances with modern themes. The opening of the new building took place on March 1, 2012. The construction of the theater lasted from 2008 to 2012 and cost the budget of the republic 1.3 billion rubles. The area of the theater is 17150 sq. M. Now the Ekiyat puppet theater is one of the largest children's theaters in Russia. The theater building resembles a castle from fairy tales, the architecture of which combines different styles. On the facade of the theater there is a clock and many sculptural fairy-tale characters. There are two halls in the theater building: a large hall for 250 seats and a small hall for 100 seats. There are cafes, play areas for children, souvenir boutiques. In 1974, the Ekiyat theater became a collective member of the International Organization of Puppet Theaters - UNIMA. The theater has participated in international festivals in Germany, France, Turkey, Finland, Bulgaria, Romania and other countries. The theater went on tour to Poland.
