The Chisty Mokh State Complex Nature Reserve was founded in 1976. The reserve is of regional importance. The nature reserve is located in the Kirishi District of the Leningrad Region, or to be more precise, four kilometers south-east of the city of Kirishi itself. You can get to "Pure Moss" from the city of St. Petersburg, reaching Kirishi, and then by bus in the direction of the village of Budogoshch - the border of the nature reserve is located in this place.

The purpose of the creation of a nature reserve complex was to preserve valuable territories in the raised bogs, which are typical for the northwestern part of the Russian Federation. This area is a unique place for scientific observations carried out here over a long period of time. All conducted research was carried out by the bog station at the State Hydrological Institute.

State management of the nature reserve is carried out in the person of the Government of the Leningrad Region, or rather the Committee for Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of the Leningrad Region, which is documented by a Government decree Leningrad Region No. 494 dated December 26, 1996. The total area of the Chisty Mokh State Nature Reserve is 6434 hectares.

The swamp located on the territory includes six massifs, as well as extensive flowing swamps. On the southern side of the swamp, the territory of which is 3,500 hectares, passes the Novgorod region - in these places, a certain zone is part of another nature reserve "Bor". Closer to the north, the bog system continues with a ridge-hollow bog called Shirinsky moss, which extends just beyond the railway line. The high slopes of the Dubnya river valley, as well as the swamp islands, are densely planted with aspen forests, alternating with oak grass, such as lily of the valley, lungwort, amazing violet, pearl barley and drop cap. The river valley is rich in oak trees, and linden trees can often be seen on the islands. A large number of orchid species grow not only in the glades, but in the forest zone. As for the species rare for this territory, it is worth noting the Siberian lettuce, the northern wrestler, and in the area where the marsh systems are located, you can especially often see the Lindbergh sphagnum - a very rare and rarely found species of moss. The nature reserve is especially rich in berries and mushrooms.

The fauna of the Chisty Moss reserve, for the most part, it is represented by marsh and forest species of birds, among which the most common are: woodcock, blackbird, snipe, as well as birds of prey, for example, sparrowhawk, buzzard, goshawk, marsh harrier, wasp eater and hobbyhorse. Regular meetings in the area of the White River Golden Eagle are of no small importance. Despite the fact that the village of Pchevzha and the town of Kirishi are located near the nature reserve, on the territory you can often see hazel grouse, wood grouse, ptarmigan and black grouse. From the class of mammals, it is worth highlighting the beaver, which lives not only in the swamp, but also in the forest zone, as well as the wolf, bear, fox, wild boar, elk and pine marten. Among other things, many rodents and insectivorous representatives of the animal world live here.

The carefully protected objects of the nature reserve include: linden forests located on the islands, the territory of the bog station, rare species of animals and plants, for example, the northern wrestler, Siberian lettuce, Lindbergh's sphagnum, ptarmigan and all, without exception, species of birds of prey.

On the territory of the Chisty Mokh nature reserve, any reclamation work, tree tapping, activities that may result in a violation of the hydrological regime of the swamp system, the use of pesticides and pesticides, discharge of waste water, mining are strictly prohibited, not excluding peat, as well as various kinds of geological surveys.
