Photo and description

The oldest Warsaw church, St. John's Cathedral, built at the turn of the XIII-XIV centuries, is located on Sventojanska Street. In 1339, the papal court decided here a dispute between Poland and the Teutonic Order. Stanislav Leshchinsky and Stanislav August Poniatovsky were crowned here. The ashes of Mazovian princes and noble townspeople rest under the floor of the church. The Polish writer Heinrich Sienkiewicz is also buried here. The temple did not survive, but was rebuilt in 1963.
