Photo and description

The building of the Pushkin Gallery is located in the city of Zheleznovodsk, in the middle of the Kurortny Park, to the right of the main entrance. The gallery has an interesting look and a unique history. It was purchased for Zheleznovodsk in Nizhny Novgorod at a fair. If today it is quite normal to buy a building and move it tens and hundreds of kilometers away, then in those days it was a unique phenomenon.

The Pushkin Gallery, the construction of which was completed in 1901, is an unusually beautiful building, built of iron structures and colored stained glass. The frame was made in St. Petersburg and delivered in separate parts by rail. The building is slightly more than 85 m long, about 10.5 m wide, and the spire height more than 22 m.

It was decided to build the gallery in a park at the foot of Mount Zheleznaya. The original architectural forms, a large amount of glass and the optimistic blue color of the Pushkin Gallery give the building the appearance of some kind of royal palace. The gallery was built quite quickly, during 1901. Its grand opening took place in May 1902

Initially, the gallery was called Zheleznaya. It received its modern name in 1903 in honor of the famous poet who glorified the Caucasus. Inside the gallery on the day of the 100th anniversary of the death of A.S. Pushkin, the monument "Pushkin by the Sea" was erected. For quite a long time it was the center of the cultural life of local residents. Such famous artists as L. Utesov, V. Komissarzhevskaya, A. Duncan, L. Ruslanova, as well as I. Kobzon, A. Pugacheva, E. Piekha and many others performed here.

One part of the Pushkin Gallery building is an auditorium for concerts. It was on this stage that famous artists often gave concerts. Nowadays, events are also held here, but in order to get to them, you need to follow the poster. The second part of the building houses a permanent exhibition of paintings by local artists.
