It is located about 7 km from the capital of the island of the same name and 8 km from the popular resort of Faliraki. It is believed that the name of the settlement comes from the Greek word "koskino", which means "sieve", the production of which was once the main occupation of local residents. Koskinu can be conditionally divided into two parts - the old city located at some distance from the coast (about 2-2.5 km), and a new coastal area. The tourist infrastructure of Koskinu is concentrated mainly in the modern part of the settlement. There are also many excellent hotels and comfortable apartments. The historic center of Koskinou is an authentic Greek settlement with labyrinths of narrow cobbled streets, old churches and traditional flower-filled houses with colorful facades and ceramic ornaments.
