Photo and description

The idea to create a museum dedicated to wood products and household items originated in the 1960s. Anisimov V.M. became the author of the developed project. - one of the employees of the restoration department of the workshop. The museum is located on the banks of the Kamenka River, which is on the very outskirts of the city of Suzdal, on the site of the former Dimitrievsky Monastery - the earliest in the entire city.

The Museum of Wooden Architecture tells not only about the development of rural culture, but also about the everyday life of Russian peasants. They brought to the city of Suzdal: a two-story house of a rich peasant from the village of Log, in the Vyaznikovsky district, a peasant's hut from the village of Ilkino, in the Melenskovsky district, as well as a luxuriously decorated hut from the village of Kamenevo, Kameshkovsky district.

In the huts presented, expositions were exhibited that truly reflect the peasant life of the most diverse incomes - both the rich, and the middle peasants, and the poor. Household buildings, for example, sheds, barns, barns, wells and baths, were displayed along the perimeter around the huts. Not so long ago, a mill was brought here from the Sudogorod region, which is why a new exposition was opened, representing to many tourists an integral part of the peasant village life.

Kolchuginsky district, Church of the Transfiguration. This church is a majestic building in three tiers, the central part of which consists of several eights located on top of each other. The church wedding is done very concisely, although the bulbous head looks very elegant; while it is covered with a ploughshare. The existing two side chapels also end with domes, only much smaller in size. Around the Preobrazhensky Church there are various outbuildings, beautifully decorated with a barrel cover. There is also a gallery, somewhat raised above ground level and fixed to the wall panel of the extension - a simply decorated, but graceful porch leads to it.

There is another temple at the museum - Voznesensky, brought here from the village of Potakino, Kameshkovsky district. The temple was built in 1776, when many churches of this type were built, especially in the Vladimir province. The church is a "octagon on a quadruple" structure; the covering is made in the form of a plank roof topped with a miniature head. The temple is built in a shape resembling a ship, which is due to the presence of a three-part-axial composition: the main volume includes a refectory room, on the west side of which a hipped-roof bell tower equipped with a porch is cut. The completion of the bell tower was made with the help of a wide plank tent with a policeman, as well as a small dome, traditionally covered with a ploughshare.

The church of St. Nicholas from the village of Glotovo in the Yuryev-Polsky district, located outside of it, in the area of the Kremlin, belongs to the museum of wooden architecture. It dates back to 1766 - it was from this temple that the process of formation and subsequent organization of the museum began.

In the winter of 2012, a house was added to the museum, formerly owned by the Agapov merchants, in the building of which an exposition entitled “Merchants of Suzdal. Portrait in the Interior ". The forge is on the first floor of the building; it presents the working tools necessary for a blacksmith, as well as products and items of blacksmithing. The second floor of the house completely recreates the interior design of a merchant's house of the late 19th century. There is a study and a living room, there are authentic household items and documents.

In the summer season, the Museum of Wooden Architecture turns into a venue for a wide variety of holidays. The universally recognized and beloved holiday has become the Day of the Cucumber, which is celebrated in July, when the process of picking cucumbers is in progress. During the celebration, the most popular and talented folk groups perform; there is an opportunity to take part in competitions or games and get souvenirs as a gift.
