Photo and description

One of the most interesting houses in Ulm - the Reichenauer Hof mansion - a striking example of medieval Gothic. The date of construction is considered to be 1370, but the place was not chosen by chance. On the one hand - the proximity of the Danube, on the other - the city center, such benefits were used at different times by the families of wealthy citizens, because families of mayors and city councilors lived in it, Emperor Charles V himself was noticed here, however, as a guest.

The building was renovated in 1535, in particular, a whole wing was added to it. Among the distinctive features of the architecture are vaulted ceilings, consistent proportions of all facades, arched structures. Inside the premises are decorated with frescoes, real Gothic painting, which still attracts interest today. Luxurious paintings smoothly transition from ceilings to walls, depicting not only bizarre patterns, but also love scenes. The famous Minstrel Hall was used for receptions, so it was decorated with special refinement.

After the destruction caused by the Second World War, the mansion was not restored for a long time. However, in 1960 it was restored using all the images and drawings preserved in the city archives. Now the building looks the same as before the terrible destruction. In modern life, this architectural monument is one of the main tourist sites actively visited by tourists from different countries.
