The New Synagogue is located in the Mitte district of Berlin and is considered the main synagogue of the capital's Jewish community. It was built in the period from 1859 to 1866, after which it became one of the main urban architectural monuments of the 19th century.

This majestic structure is made in the Moorish style and is very reminiscent of the Alhambra. Eduard Knoblauch worked on the project of the synagogue, but he was unable to complete the construction due to a serious illness, so Friedrich August Stuler became the successor to this business. The facade of the building is distinguished by multi-colored bricks, it is very richly decorated in the Eastern tradition. Colored blocks, unusual and even slightly fanciful ornaments adorn the New Synagogue. Despite the fact that it is considered slightly "sandwiched" between structures built earlier, it looks very magnificent and harmonious.

On the wings of the building there are two small domes resembling tents, between them there is a central luxurious dome with gilded edging. Upon entering the synagogue, visitors first enter the front hall, and then into the main hall, designed for 3000 people. This building was built to reflect the increasing population of Jews in Berlin, among whom there were many immigrants who came from the East. Not only divine services were held here, but also some public concerts. For example, in 1930, a violin concert was held in the New Synagogue, & nbsp; which was attended by Albert Einstein.

During the war years, the structure was completely destroyed, fortunately for many believers, this symbol of faith of the Jews was rebuilt taking into account all the features of the first building, but with some additions to the decor. Currently, the lush and truly majestic New Synagogue continues to function, and also attracts a large number of tourists with its beautiful views.
