Resurrection Cathedral description and photos - Russia - Golden Ring: Tutaev. Detailed information about the attraction. Description, photos and a map showing the nearest significant objects. Photo and descriptionThe Volga River divides the city of Tutaev into two parts. The city of Romanov was once located on the left bank, and the Borisoglebskaya fish settlement was on the right. Over time, the Borisoglebsk and Yamskaya Sloboda were united into the city of Borisoglebsk. The main attraction of the Borisoglebsk side of Tutaev is the Resurrection Cathedral. In 1640, at the expense of local residents of the settlement, the construction of the temple began and in 1658 the temple was consecrated. However, after a few years, the tents of the temple began to collapse. Yaroslavl architects were invited (Tutaev is located 40 km from Yaroslavl). Yaroslavl craftsmen partially dismantled the church and built a new solemn and very elegant building on the old foundation. The cathedral is very large: 35 meters long, 30 meters wide, and 49.5 meters high. By 1670-1678, the construction was completed. The cathedral consisted of the actual church, the surrounding galleries, had two elegant porches and a bell tower. In the basement of the temple there was a `` winter '' Church of Our Lady of Hodegetria. The base of the galleries are vaulted arches, in the depths of which are the windows of the lower church. The upper part of the galleries is decorated with an arcade of windows. The central part of the temple is illuminated by windows in the walls and light drums of the heads. Under the roof of the central part of the temple is a brightly painted belt of false zakomars with images of biblical subjects and decorative paintings. All this is imbued with the spirit of lush luxury. On the east side of the building, there are unusual two-tiered altar apses. The lower apses pushed far forward are perceived as a kind of abutment, the supporting cathedral on a rather noticeable slope of the coast. Two identical porches are set asymmetrically, and at an angle near the southern and western walls of the temple, and very decorate it. The Resurrection Cathedral was painted by the best Yaroslavl artists in the 1680s. The artel of masters was headed by the outstanding master of fresco painting Dmitry Grigoriev. In the dome of the temple, the Savior Almighty is depicted, on the vaults - scenes from the New Testament, on the western wall - the Last Judgment. The frescoes of the galleries are also remarkable. In the southern gallery there is a beautiful fresco about the creation and fall of Adam and Eve. The Resurrection Cathedral contains a large number of icons. The icon `` Spas Oplechny '' is especially famous. 15th century. Its dimensions are striking - 2.96 x 1.96 meters. The icon comes from a non-extant male monastery, < img src="/preload.png" data-src="/uploads/posts/2019-03/travel-image-2056.jpg" itemprop="image" border="0"> jpg "itemprop="image" border="0"> jpg "itemprop="image" border="0"> > >
