Description, photos and a map showing the nearest significant objects. Photo and descriptionThe Assumption Church is located in the village of Aksyonovo, Palkinsky District, Pskov Region. In 1938 the church was renamed into Priezhukalns. The church building was erected on an elevated site. Near the temple, on the east side, there is an old parish cemetery, and there is an ancient chapel in the cemetery. In this chapel, until 1901, every year on the day of the Dormition of the Mother of God, the clergy of the Kachanovskaya church held prayers. At the end of the 19th century, in 1898, the local landowner Bekleshev, who lived in the Trumalevo estate, formed a commission that asked the Pskov diocese to allow the rebuilding of a church-school in the village of Aksenova Gora. The Pskov diocese gave permission for the construction and allocated the necessary funds. The construction of the church-school was completed in 1901 and in the same year, September 16, the ceremony of its consecration was held in the name of the Dormition of the Mother of God. The architecture of the building of the church-school is similar to the architecture of the building, which was built in 1897 in the Latvian town of Smiltene (architect Rybinsky). Church-school for a long time, namely until 1907, belonged to the Kachanovsky parish. At that time, the priest Nikolai Kudryavtsev served in the church-school. The parishioners have repeatedly asked the Pskov diocese to form their own independent parish. The permission of the authorities of the Pskov diocese to build a new church of stone followed on August 24, 1905. Emperor Nicholas II donated 1,000 rubles for the construction of a stone church. Other funds were collected throughout the Pskov region. Archpriest Mikhail Nikolsky, parishioner Mikhail Pavlov, and the building commission took the greatest care of the building of the church. Until 1913, the walls and roof were built, but due to a lack of funds and the outbreak of war in 1914, construction was stopped. The newly-made church was built and consecrated on September 21, 1921 by Archbishop John (Pommer). In December 1933, more precisely on the 18th, Alexy Ionov becomes the rector of the Aksenovo-Gorsk parish. The community is rallying around the young, energetic and talented priest and is starting to publish its own missionary leaflet. In 1937, from September, Fr. Alexy was transferred to Riga, where he serves as a second priest in the Alexander Nevsky Church. In August 1941 g. one of the first among the envoys of Metropolitan Sergius (Voskresensky) arrives in Pskov and is directly involved in the restoration of Pskov churches. Also, from August 27, 1941, Fr. Alexy served in the town of Ostrov and was the dean of the Ostrovsky district. Thanks to his skillful leadership and active participation, churches were restored and opened, divine services and church sacraments were held. Thanks to the efforts of Fr. Alexy, lessons of the Law of God were introduced in district schools. The missionary devoted much effort to training teachers to teach this subject. Father Alexy showed no less care for the prisoners of war: services were held especially for them, and things, food and medicine were collected in churches. The charitable activities of the priest and his assistants covered orphans and refugees. Divine services were performed for them, evangelical talks were held, lectures were given. When the front line came too close, the missionary was evacuated to Europe with his family. Since February 1937, Nikolai Kolentsov becomes the rector of the church. In 1937, a women's committee was organized at the church, headed by the Bekleshev sisters. They were active in decorating the church and increasing the sacristy.
