Photo and descriptionThe Church of St.Jovan is one of the largest religious Orthodox buildings on the territory of modern Bar. The church was consecrated in honor of John Vladimir, the first Serbian ruler in Montenegro, from where he exercised his rule. The construction of the temple was started almost 20 years ago in the very center of Bar, not far from the coastline. The area of the temple will have to be more than one square kilometer, the height of the domes will be about 40 meters. The territory of the temple involves holding not only divine services, but also various spiritual and cultural events, for which a small amphitheater was made in the western part of the temple. The money for the construction of the temple was collected mainly through donations from caring people. By the way, many organizations independent of the state are taking part in the construction of the temple. In Russia, such was the “Vera” bell-foundry, which produced 9 bells for the church. Also, a St. Petersburg philanthropist and businessman contributed to the construction of the church, who presented the Montenegrin church with a gilded cross 3 meters high - it is he who will decorate the bell tower of St. Helena. By the end of the construction, the church of St. John Vladimir should become beautiful and comfortable a place of prayer for Orthodox believers.
