The Kassa Dash Mudash Arts Center is located in the village of Calheta, which is located on Madeira, a vegetated volcanic island washed by the warm currents of the Gulf Stream. Since the 15th century, the island has been a crossroads of trade routes for many continents. There are many museums on the island, and one of them deserves special attention due to its location.

The Kassa Dash Mudash Arts Center has an amazing location - it sits at the top of a promontory, above the Atlantic Ocean (600 feet). The center is located in two buildings, one of which dates back to the 16th century, and the other is more modern. The old building previously belonged to the granddaughter of Juan Goncalves Zarco, who is considered the discoverer of the island of Madeira. This mansion is located almost on the edge of a cliff. Visitors, who come to the center by car can park their car in the garage below. The center can be accessed either from the terrace or from the garage.

From the open-air terrace, visitors can enter the new museum building with an interesting design, built by the famous local architect Paulo David.
