There is an amazing arboretum in the village of Opechensky Posad, 35 km from the town of Borovichi. The creator of this park was Semyon Andreevich Ushanov, who for 50 years independently planted all the trees in the arboretum, and also created sculptures and small fountains. One of the sculptures made alone was the figure of the Bear. It is worth noting that Mishka speaks in the voice of the owner of the arboretum.

In the summer of July 31, 2011, the famous arboretum, located on the banks of the small river Msta, turned 35, while its owner and founder, Semyon Andreevich, was 85 years old. According to the stories of Semyon Andreevich, he clearly remembers how 50 years ago he planted the first tree in his life, and from that moment on, the life of a villager was directed exclusively towards creating the beauty and accomplishment of his homeland. Today, the Opechensky arboretum is a unique attraction and incredible pride of the entire Borovichi region, which cannot but attract the attention of not only local residents, but also tourists visiting this region.

Not just forest spruces or ordinary mountain ash grow in the arboretum. but even incredible exotic plants, which include: Korean forsythia, Japanese spirea and cypress, Balkan pine, North American walnut and many other very rare tree species that were brought to the village from various nurseries located on Russian territory. In the park of Semyon Andreevich, there are about 180 of the most diverse tree species. The famous Opechensky arboretum attracts not only tourists with a variety of tree species, but also various outlandish objects, for example, a home-made fountain that rises above the Mstaya River as a captain's bridge, unusual sculptures, one of which is the three-meter bear Mishka, large boulders and many others interesting finds.

It is worth noting that in the arboretum, in addition to trees and fountains, there is also a beautiful pond, a spacious observation deck and an island for newlyweds. In addition, Semyon Andreevich did all the constructions exclusively on his own pension, not taking a penny from the state money. Some people, seeing his efforts, disinterestedly helped, because this person feels incredible love for his homeland and his countrymen, which motivated him in the most difficult and, it seemed, desperate situations.

After Semyon Andreevich came from the war, in which he was seriously wounded, he immediately married. He set about building a house, but soon he was again drafted into the army. Five years later, he resumed his work, but the deserted shore, on which the house was located, carried sand with the wind directly into the windows of the new house. Then Semyon Andreevich decided to plant a forest protection strip on the shore, initially grasping the ravines. Soon the Victory Alley appeared.

Some time later, at the Leningrad Forestry Academy, Semyon Andreevich was given about 60 seedlings and eight bags of fertilizers. Local guys helped to dig holes, and soon work began on wooden sculptures, fountains and small surprises, as well as an artificial island. The honeymoon island is only 45 sq. m; but it took a lot of time and work for its appearance.
After the arboretum was ready, Semyon Ushanov was awarded for the initiative and was assigned a monthly salary, taking into account the transfer of the park to the balance of the agricultural communal services.

On the day of the anniversary celebration, all residents of the village of Opechensky Posad came to congratulate Semyon Andreyevich Ushanov, including his friends, relatives, colleagues, as well as all those who helped in the process of creating such an amazing place that it became undoubtedly noble and noble business for the entire Russian land. A large number of people sincerely congratulated Semyon Andreyevich and wished him good health, strength, prosperity and long life, thereby expressing gratitude for the creation of the arboretum. It is believed that there is a silver lining,
