Middleton Beach is a coastal area of Albany located 4 km from the city center. This is one of the favorite vacation spots of townspeople and visiting tourists - you can stay overnight in a camper in a special parking lot or in one of the many hotels.

Middleton Beach is bounded by Wollaston Road in the north, King George Strait on east and Heritage Park to the west and south. The permanent population of the district is only 663 people.

The settlement of Middleton was founded in 1834, but only at the end of the 20th century it became part of a large city - Albany. In 1892, the first hotel for tourists was built on the Esplanade embankment, but already in 1908 it burned down. The restored hotel building was opened in 1911 - by this time a road had been built between Albany and Middleton Beach, which facilitated the influx of tourists to this cozy place. The tourism industry began to develop and flourish. The building of the first hotel in the 20th century was demolished several times and other more modern hotels were rebuilt in its place.

But, of course, the main attraction of Middleton Beach is the beach of the same name - the main vacation spot for Albany residents, offering a variety of recreational services ... The waters are calm here - the King George Strait protects the beach from the high waves of the Southern Ocean. In summer, a pontoon bridge is installed right in the water of the strait - a floating structure that can withstand several dozen, or even hundreds of people. There are cafes, restaurants and grocery stores for every taste on the shore. In spring, whales migrating to the south often enter the waters of the strait - here they rest. Sometimes they approach the shore by 20-30 meters, and this causes genuine delight in everyone who witnesses an amazing spectacle.
