Photo and description

The Brest Resurrection Cathedral-monument in honor of the Great Victory was founded in 1992 and was erected on the 50th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The initiator of the construction of the cathedral was Archpriest Yevgeny Parfenyuk, one of the oldest clergymen of the Belarusian Exarchate, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War.

The construction of the Resurrection Cathedral was carried out according to the project of a group of architects of the Brestgrazhdanproekt Institute with funds raised by parishioners. The construction was carried out by the construction organization of the management "Brestselstroy".

The cathedral consists of an upper church in honor of the Resurrection of Christ, a lower church in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God and a high bell tower. The first service in the still under construction church took place in 1995 at the Annunciation. The fully completed cathedral was consecrated by the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II on June 24, 2001.

The temple houses the ancient Bogolyubskaya icon of the Mother of God. A 400-kilogram bell is installed on the bell tower of the temple. An oak alley is laid out near the temple.

The building of the bell tower houses a museum in memory of the victims of the Great Patriotic War and glory to the victorious soldiers over the German fascist invaders. A sisterhood in honor of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God has been organized at the church, engaged in merciful help to those in need. At the Resurrection Church there is also a Sunday school for children, which is engaged in the spiritual enlightenment of children. The school has four classes.

On September 23, 2003, the Brest Resurrection Cathedral was given the status of a spiritual historical and cultural value of Belarus.
