St. George's Church was built at the old Christian cemetery of the city of Kobrin, presumably in 1889 at the expense of parishioners. It is possible that it was rebuilt from the abolished Prechistenskaya church that was in its place. These facts are indicated by the “Grodno Orthodox Church Calendar” dated 1899.

The cemetery is called the Old Christian one, however, it can be assumed that it was originally a multi-confessional cemetery on the outskirts of Kobrin, later the Church of St. George the Victorious was built here and they began to bury only Orthodox Christians. Judging by the state of the cemetery monuments and graves, the cemetery is carefully looked after and maintained throughout its territory in perfect order. The cemetery is surrounded by a low red brick fence.

Saint George, in whose honor this church was consecrated, is one of the most revered Orthodox Christian saints. The saint was named George the Victorious for one of his exploits - the defeat of a terrible serpent that lived in the Lebanese mountain lake. St. George defeating the snake is a symbol of the invincibility of Orthodox soldiers and military valor.

In Soviet times, the church was closed. After the collapse of the USSR, the Kobrin authorities decided to reopen and consecrate it in 2005. The church contains a list of the image of St. George the Victorious and a particle of his relics.

The church is a historical and cultural monument and one of the few surviving wooden working churches in the city of Kobrin.
