Photo and description

One of the most popular places in Protaras and the whole of Cyprus - Cape Greco - attracts tourists with its beautiful landscapes and crystal clear sea. The cape is located just between Protaras and Ayia Napa, but it is easy to get there both by bike and on foot. It is the easternmost point of the island, which is under the control of the Republic of Cyprus.

This unique place, above all, impresses with its amazing caves that can be found on the western side of the cape. They are very similar to the beautiful castles created by the ingenious architect. Looking at them, it is even impossible to believe that they were carved into the coastal rocks by the sea surf. Not far from the caves there is the so-called "Lovers' Bridge" - a unique rock that literally hangs above the water like a real bridge. Besides, on the shore there are rare and endangered plants, and the water is very clean and transparent, so scuba diving will bring a lot of pleasure and leave many new impressions. You can also go underwater hunting there.

But this place has one drawback that you have to put up with. At the very edge of the cliff, from where the most beautiful view opens up, there is a fenced lighthouse. Therefore, the passage to the cliff is closed for tourists and local residents. Despite this, you can have a great time on the cape. There are many gazebos and benches, where you can hide from the bright sun and relax after a long walk.

Another point that undoubtedly adds to this place of mystery and attractiveness in the eyes of tourists is the legend of the monster. which, according to local residents, lives in the coastal waters of the cape. Although it is believed that the basis of this legend was the ancient Greek myths and stories about the deadly Scylla, the Cypriots themselves call the "local" monster "To Filiko Teras", which means "friendly monster".
