The Kuressaare Town Hall was built in 1654-1670. The building was built on the initiative of the Swedish Count Magnus Gabriel de la Guardia. The town hall is made in the baroque style of the northern countries, which is characterized by simple and austere forms, but at the same time gives an impression of majesty and solidity. The town hall is decorated with a sculptural portal with the date "1670". The largest ceiling painting in Estonia is located here and adorns the second floor of the Town Hall.

The building is thoroughly imbued with the spirit of the Middle Ages, which was preserved thanks to the restorations. The building was restored to its original form in the 1970s.
